Perfectly curated bookstore, the selections were like shopping my own bookshelves. Just don’t expect much of the typical NY snobby staff and list book prices.

We visited 192 Books on a rainy day, both struggling existentially, to wrap ourselves around the previous evening’s sadnesses. We found ourselves completely delighted in the haven of fantastically curated books. Frenetically searched the shelves and stopped at nearly every one to discuss the works of Walter Benjamin, Adorno (they had a copy of Minima Moralia which I had been searching for, for ages!) Pasolini’s adaptations of films in novel form, etc. We each picked out books for eachother. Much love to this place!

Literally my favorite bookstore in the city—I’ve been coming here for over ten years, and I always get the best recommendations. Highly recommend if you’re interested in literary fiction (especially in translation), poetry, and art books. Really good selection of urban planning / social theory, too!

Popped in on a whim and glad I did. Really nice selection of not-just-bestsellers. Great philosophy section, same for their poetry, literary nonfiction, and literary fiction section. They also had architecture, photography, memoir, and children's sections that I didn't have time to check out, unfortunately. Super friendly staff who clearly love books and are happy to recommend you a book if you can't choose (I left with 3 books, LOL).

A great neighborhood bookstore that has a great and well-curated selection of books. My favorite is that they have an entire table/section of translated works which are often of international acclaim but not to be found many places in the States. Friendly staff. Gorgeous building. Really a wonderful place to stop in.

I love this bookstore. The staff can be a bit reserved, but they are typically reading so I understand. They are helpful when you engage with them, but who needs help in a bookstore the size of a studio apartment: spin in circle; browse the well-curated books and pick a few out. You likely will find something you didn’t know you had been missing. I went back recently after having moved away from Chelsea and was sad to hear the owner had passed but glad to know his wife is keeping the store going at the same level of quality. Sorry for your loss.

CHELSEA, NY - What a cozy little haven in the midst of the bustling city! This charming bookstore may be small, but it offers a peaceful atmosphere and a delightful selection of books. After a long walk through the city, I found it quite lovely to take a break, sit down, and browse through some captivating titles. I even stumbled upon a book of poetry by Wislawa Szymborska, which I couldn't resist bringing home. I highly recommend stopping by to discover a new literary gem and to show your support for this wonderful space. . Despite its size, this bookstore boasts an impressive collection of books. Their curator clearly has impeccable taste, and the store serves the Chelsea community exceptionally well. It's truly a fabulous bookstore.

Love this small book store. It reminds me of the small bookstores you find on a neighborhood’s high street around London. Quaint with a good selection of interesting reads. A more personal vibe than a big box bookstore. Highly recommend. Support your local bookstore ❤️
